Paua World is open every day of the year, with the exception of Christmas Day.

Weekdays 8.00am to 5.00pm

Weekends and Public Holidays 9.00am to 5.00pm

Paua World is a unique all-weather attraction conveniently situated at the North end of Carterton township in the beautiful rural Wairarapa. With a scenic picnic area and Playground plus toilet facilities which cater for baby-changing and wheelchair access as well as larger groups. We hope you can all enjoy a visit with us.

• Take a wander through to the factory (week-days),  to see Paua, Pink Mussel & Mother of Pearl shells being carved by the craftsmen. (Factory closed for Christmas from 24 December 2008 to 12 January 2009)
• View an informative video on the life of the Paua.
• Observe the salt-water aquarium with live Paua, Seahorses, Rock Cod and other sea life. Enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee.
• Browse in the treasure trove of the shop to see our extensive range of quality jewellery, gifts, ornaments and New Zealand Souvenirs.
